Money earned by part-time work

Hello everyone, I am an international student going to UMN in the fall.

I need to do a part time job on campus (at least for the first year as far as on campus is concerned) and was wondering if any of you could tell me how much money working 20 hours a week could provide for the year. I know it's easy to do the math, but does a student generally work for 35 weeks a year? Or something like that?

I just want to have an idea of what I can potentially earn since I do not want my parents to pay for all of my expenses. Thanks in advance!
