I should mention that my first choice would be Carlson, but CLA would be OK too.

I definitely think you will get into CLA. You have good activities, but your ACT is on the low side for Carlson. If you could get it up at least two or three points I think you'd have a good shot. Keep doing practice tests! The U is mostly numbers-based for acceptances, so those few points could make all the difference (in terms of scholarships also). Definitely submit your application early and work hard to have top first quarter/semester/trimester senior year grades, because they do count. Good luck, and enjoy the college application process!!

^^^ agree on your chances. CLA offeres different degrees that Carlson, so your comment that either one works is concerning. What career are you pursuing ?

I would like to either get a degree in economics or international business, with international business being my first choice, but would be OK with economics too. That's what I meant by my comment, sorry if it were unclear.

    Anyone else?

I would agree. CLA you're fine but Carlson you're right on the border.

Your chances are slim for Carlson. Since you are considered an OOS you are competing with kids that have 30 and above.

I think you'll get into Carlson. My friend got in with a 26 ACT and basically the same class rank, also less APs and ECs. He even got a small scholarship too. Granted he's in state and you're OOS, but I doubt that will make much of a difference. You should be fine, and if you bring your ACT to a 28 or 29 I'd say you're pretty much a lock.

You'll definitely get into CLA. I think there's a small chance Carlson won't work out, but I'm betting you'll be fine. The U of M looks at more than just a few points on the ACT (thank god)! You look like you'll make up for it in other ways so I wouldn't sweat it a ton.

If you don't get into Carlson and do get into CLA, you can always try to switch colleges after admission.

    Good luck!
