Math Placement

MetaKirbyMetaKirby Registered User Posts: 52 Junior Member
Hey everyone! So I feel like I'm pretty "on the ball" in terms of getting my stuff together for CTOPs, but I really want to clear something up about Math placement.

In my first semester Senior Year, I took AP Calculus AB and got an A. However, in my second semester, I took AP Statistics and also got an A. At the end of the year, I decided to JUST take the AP Stats exam and not the Calculus exam.

Now, I'm worried about my Math placement. I only took the Math Level 1 placement test and got a 700 on it. I didn't take the Math Level 2 placement.

Did I miss some crucial step? Does my AP Stats score count for anything? Or am I literally going in with no credit? I definitely do not want to be sitting in a lower level math class when I could be knocking out some of my other requirements.

Math Level 1 with a score of 700 equals credit for Math 110P with placement into Math 130 or Math 152. The AP Statistics Exam is not accepted for math credit or placement. However, a score of 3 on AP Statistics equals STOR 151 (3 credit hours) or a score of 4 equals STOR 155 (3 credit hours). STOR 151 or 155 both apply toward QR requirements.

^so if I were to take the AP Stat exam and get a 3,4, or 5, but not take the AP Calc or either Math SAT subject tests, then I would satisfy the QR requirements, correct?

Would I then need to take any math courses? (I'm a Humanities major).

    Oh thank god *woo*.
The whole "AP stats doesn't count towards math credit" is pretty vague and confusing, but I see now that it basically *does* count, but not in a "placement" sort of way.

    So confusing X___X

Speaking of Stat, I've heard that just this year they're changing it so that AP stat will only get you one math credit. Supposedly people have confirmed it with admissions but it makes absolutely no sense to me. Also, my stat class was unbearable so i'll be really upset if I lived through that for basically nothing. Anybody else know what's actually happening with this? And no, it hasn't changed on the placement score table, so i'm doubting it.
