Chance an in-state senior?

doublebeesdoublebees Registered User Posts: 6 New Member
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Asian
First generation college student
GPA:3.6 (UW) / 4.4(W)
Rank: 103/~650 (~15%)
SAT: 1840 (math 580, reading 620, writing 640 - 10 on essay)
Should I possibly take the SAT over again? I've already taken it twice. I heard somewhere that UNC only looks at the first two SAT scores? Is that true?

My classes this year:
AP Psychology
AP English IV
AP Biology
AP Statistics
Honors Medical Science II
Honors Orchestra IV
Theatre I

Extra Curriculars
HOSA Club, served as President for 2 years
BETA Club
Speech and Debate for 2 years, stopped because of financial problems
National Honors Society
National Science Honors Society
Drama Club, served as the Historian for one year

Community Service/Other
Hospital volunteer for the past 4 years (2 hrs/wk so ~100 hrs)
I also volunteer a few times a month at a homeless shelter (~10 hrs/month)
Volunteered at a summer camp for the past 3 summers
Lead the Kids Voting Booth at my local voting station for the past 3 years
Part of the worship team at my church
I've also been working during the school year and summer for almost a year now.

Honors/Awards
HOSA Regionals Winner - Top 3 for the past 3 years
HOSA States Finalist - Top 5 the past 3 years
Multiple Speech and Debate awards
National AP Scholar

I also attended UNC's Project Uplift program over the summer. I'm not sure if that plays any role in the admission decision.

Oh, my school also offers IB classes, and I was in the Pre-IB classes for Freshman and Sophomore year, but switched to AP classes Junior and Senior Year. In total, I will have taken 8 AP's by the end of the year.

Take the test again -- UNC will take your best scores. Apply and see what happens.
