Is there anyone on here that can give advice to any prospective UNC-CH students?

    1) Look at the average numerical stats for all incoming students (especially the class of 2010), try your best to meet/exceed those standards.

    2) Work hard on those essays. Remember, ~19-20,000 qualified students apply for a class of ~3,500 which is pretty tough, and hence even scoring within the average numeric. stat range. may not be enough because of too many equally qualified candidates. Therefore, one must distinguish oneself by writing unique essays and having good ECs etc...(which I think is the same scenario for all good schools,..)

    3) Be sure to emphasize your interest in coming here through campus visits if possible or by contacting someone at the admissions office/asking questions etc. They DO keep a record of this you know...

After doing the aforementioned just hope for the best! ...
and if UNC is a 'best fit' for you, you WILL get in...! Good Luck!

That's a good one...Therefore, the aforementioned pointers are mostly valid for say, OOS? LOL! But then again,...it also depends on what school you go to...

you go to a private school right? .... Does it make a difference for admissions if you go to public or private schools?

Just the fact that you go to a public or private school would make little or no difference for admissions. However, the private 'preppy' school students DO tend to be "well bred" (ps. note the sarcasm) in that they're usually the ones who get the most help, advice, couseling, resources etc. directed towards college admissions and SAT/ACT prep. (No offence to those who do go to a private school..) And hence most private school kids tend to have a 'better looking' app, and do slightly better in the app. process in general. But, that doesn't mean a public school student CAN'T do the same or NOT have access to the same or even better opportunities. When it comes to college admissions, one has to look in the right place for opportunities and resources, and do the right things, at the right time...whether one does it at a private/public school matters ~ a little.
