New Guy needs People to read his essay

edited October 2006 in University of Pennsylvania
I came across this forum through the miracles of google search and i've been reading the threads and found them to be helpful.

I'm doing early decision to the Life Sciences and Management Program at Penn and I was hoping people on here would read my essay and give me some helpful comments.

The deadline is coming up in like 3 days and i am currently finishing/revising/editing my other two essays. Also, if anyone else on this forum is doing Early Decision to the LSM program please let me know. Thanks

While I'm at it, i might as well post a little college profile to see what you guys think of "my chances"

    SAT: 2100
    CR: 760
    M: 690
    W: 650

SAT ii's Bio, Mat IC, and U.S. History (Scores unknown until nov. 8th). I'm conservatively estimating upper 600's, b/c they seemed kind of hard.

    Number 2 in a class of 250
    NHS president
    Varsity Badminton
    Sunday School Volunteer
    Meals on Wheels
    Rec Basketball

    AP Scholar
    MD Distinguished Scholar
University of MD, Summer Biomedical Research program
I'm in the Business Management magnet program at my school.

*No legacy, high school is not very competitive (i.e. i have the highest SAT score in my class)

I'm applying ED to the joint degree program in life sciences and management. So let's here it, am i in or not?

Extra curriculars are very generic (nothing sets you apart)...your rank is good, your SAT scores are average (maybe slightly below average) by Penn standards. Joint degree programs are notoriously hard. Did you specify the nursing school as your ED choice if you get rejected from the joint degree program? You have a chance at the joint degree, but it'll be tough. You could probably get into the nursing school...the college would be tough. Anyway, I'll read whatever essays you've written so far

^Life sciences and management is the college and wharton, not nursing.

The admissions stats for the LSM program last year was 27 students admitted out of almost 200 that applied. That appears to be relatively high for me, but then again , last year was the first time the LSM program was offered. Odin is right the LSM program is the CAS and Wharton
