Scholarship Info

Hi guys!
I applied and was accepted Nov 18th. The acceptance letter contained no mention of any scholarship, and from browsing the Pitt CC, I've gathered people have generally received their schollie info a month after being accepted (if not in the actual decision letter).
I have yet to receive any scholarship info, so does this mean I won't be awarded anything and won't be contacted period, or that I will still hear from them in some form about aid?

Same situation here... admitted in early November... Honors College and Grad School guarantee, but nothing yet regarding scholarship $. (Initial acceptance letter said file would be sent to scholarship committee... but still have not heard anything.)

Does anyone know... does this mean no scholarship??? If so, then Pitt is off the short list due to cost.

Good luck to both of you. The trend over the past two or three years seems as though the scholarship wait time is longer. My advice would be to not write Pitt off yet, but be patient (it's hard to do that, I know).

Another Marylander. S applied in early December, got acceptance about a week later, then got honors college acceptance a week after that (nice Xmas present). Hoping to hear about a scholarship but we have time as we won't hear from other colleges until early April.

Got the Academic Portfolio package yesterday. Does that have any relationship (or timing) to whether or not a scholarship letter is forthcoming? Or is that on an indepedent schedule?

I'm thinking about calling Pitt's fin aid office on Tuesday (assuming they're closed for MLK Day on Monday) and finding out more about the process. We can afford Pitt (even OOS) w/o a scholarship (since we have one kid) but we're comparing Pitt to two other schools and getting a scholarship means two things: to me, it's cheaper(!) and to my S it shows that they want him more and that can make a difference when it gets down to choices. I'll post anything I find out on Tuesday.

D got the Academic Portfolio mailing beginning of November but nothing regarding scholarships followed. OOS.

I also received the the academic portfolio (about three weeks after my acceptance letter). I've yet to hear anything since.

i talked to them and they said for full-tuition scholarship consideration the applicant needs:

--SAT CR+M of 1490 (better chance if over 1500) or minimum 33 (prefer 34 or higher) on both the English & Math sections of ACT
    --top 5% rank in class
    --GPA in line with rank

so, that may answer some questions. they may give smaller scholarships with stats just below those.. i'm not sure.

Ciao - thanks for the info. Not expecting a full ride but a partial would be nice. S's OOS school does not provide rank and his SAT is 1450/2190 so we'll see. I guess we can still hope for a scholie letter.

^agreed.. my stats are at the lower end of those stated, so i am definitely not feeling like i'm getting anything for sure. i'll just wait to see what they decide. i have several good offers but i do like pitt a lot. oh the suspense!!

    RE: Academic Portfolio

To my knowledge, each accepted student receives one/it doesn't serve as an indication of your (non)scholarship status. Good luck, guys!

All-- I've posted this in other threads and reposting in hopes of helping the discussion. My son's timeline: Applied 9/25 Got acceptance 10/11 and scholarship offer 11/8
He received full tuition and has applied for Chancellor's
His SAT was only 1420, so we were very surprised and thrilled. He is top 5% and high GPA. We are OOS.
ciaobella-- did they mention timing of your application at all when you called? I have a feeling they are more give out scholarships more liberally early in the process, but it's just a guess. It also seems they are more generous with scholarships to OOS students. Check out the official class of 2015 thread for more stats on application timing, scores, scholarships etc. Hope this helps and good luck to everyone!

DD applied in the middle of Oct, received acceptance letter dates 10/26 a few days later. Letter mention Honors and Scholarship review. She received Honors letter and Guaranteed MS graduate program to Swanson school of engineering dated 11/2 about a week after first letter. Since then have received some nice information, including a nice calendar this past week, but NO scholarship info. She had 1470 CR/M SAT scores, 1/323 in class. 4.0 UW GPA, and is OOS. So don't really know what their cut-offs are or what they are looking for. DD a bit disappointed as she liked Pitt's programs.
