Pitt vs. Penn State

I can't decide between Pittsburgh and Penn State. I'm going pre-med and want to major in biology and I'm oos. Pittsburgh is giving my $10,000 scholarship and honors and I got zero scholarship money at Penn State. So it seems pretty easy regarding the money, BUT I got that "feeling" when I went to PSU and not nearly as much at Pittsburgh.

For me, I really liked Pitt. PSU ain't bad, but I didnt like the dorms, thats y i didnt even bother to apply. But for pre-med, Pitt might be a better choice. Its medical school is one of the best in the nation. But its ur decision.

Both schools have good science programs. I think the major difference is the size (40K+ students vs. approximately 15K students), and the rural vs. urban environment. One thing they have in common which is different from many schools is that the schools are integrated with the town and roads run through the campuses. You might have a little more opportunity for research or internships at Pitt because of its proximity to UPMC.

Maybe you could find data that indicates med school placement rates for Pitt and Penn State?

for medicine/science, Pitt is it!! UPMC is an absolutely amazing med school and undergrads have opportunities to participate in activities/internships there all the time :)

ditto. pitt is better academically if you wanna go into med. but you gotta make sure you like the school. you should visit pitt again and see if you can see yourself there for the next four years of your life. ask yourself what it is about PSU that makes you want it over Pitt.

best of luck! you can't go wrong w/ either.

maybe you should visit again. i would say that getting a feeling for some place can maybe outweigh other aspects, but my advice is to visit pitt again and try to find that feeling, because pitt has many things going for it. i think you could probably have a good experience at both places, but try to combine practicality and your gut feeling.

I am having some trouble deciding between either

UT plan II honors in premed or Chancellor's Scholarship to UPitt. IF anyone could give advice with specific reasons it would be much appreciated.
