I am! I got into the dorms and I'm very excited, despite the fact that TOWER doesn't have the best dorms.

I am not sure either, however I don't think I have to take any. I have 3 years language in school getting me out of a language test. I broke the 600 mark for the math and critical reading, so I don't think I have to take the math or english tests. If I am worng someone PLEASE tell me because I don't want to screw something up by not taking an exam.

as long as you are not doing engineering you are fine....we poor folks have to take too many damn exams. It says I've to take Calc, but I took AP? do I still have to take it?! Please NO

Heh, too bad I am doing biomedical engineering too. But the test shouldn't be too hard. I mean it can't be worse than the AP exams, and they weren't nearly as bad as our teachers made them to be. When is everyone going to pittstart? I think I signed up for the earliest date possible (June 29-30). Maybe I'll see some of you there!

hey! im doing bioengineering too! i am actually planning on taking my physics placement test tonight...maybe ill take my calc tomorrow...i ended up with a very high grade in AP calc BC this year so i think these tests will not be as hard as the AP calc BC test which was uhhhh haha...

ooo..i signed up for a pittstart in july because i was told that if i took AP tests that they wouldnt have my scores until then...maybe i should change it to an earlier date though?

I haven't even gotten my AP Calc grade yet. But could you tell me how to access the tests if you do them? I can't seem to find them...

I did the same as well...signing up in July, but I was thinking of calling and making sure they were holding spots for me in their classes; AP scores only come in 2nd week of July

well physics went fine...30/30 on their mostly forces/free fall test ... i thought it would cover other topics but im not complaining...uhh calc didn't go so well...if anyone else takes it sometime soon, could you tell me if you think some of the questions were misleading/wrong?... i don't know..but i couldn't figure out why my answer to #6 was wrong... i have had two years of ap calculus and i was a little confused with some of the questions...hmm maybe it's just because i rushed through it :) o well...

bwang34: i will look on the engineering school's website for you because i am almost positive that i came across the link which lead me to the placement tests (but once you are on that page, you must have a username and password to enter)

it was on the page for the freshmen engineering program...here is the website for you (this was also mailed to me at the same time that i received my username and password)

    http://www.surveysystem.net/pittstart/login.jsp

    good luck!

moerae: yes that's a good idea... if they give you an answer, would you mind sharing it because i also have the same concerns... the session that i signed up for in July does seem to be really late...

Thanks Lex! It turns out they forgot to put me down on the list of bioengineering students, so I never got the mail telling me what do to (including my username/password).

The entire engineering school goes to about four selected PittStart sessions, which tend to be later than the university in general. Don't worry about getting your classes because they do save sections of both engineering courses and elective courses for the engineering students. You might get more choices for time slots if you go to the first engineering session than the last one, though (the last one used to be right at move-in time). In fact, some of the general kind of courses are designated as engineering sections. For example, certain calc sections are designated for engineers because they make sure the material meshes with the skills needed to do the physics class. It is actually quite organized.

They make it really easy, as they have about ten different schedule "blocks". That way you know that all of your required courses fit together. Some blocks are more for morning people, some have classes later in the day. Either way, you are guaranteed to get all of the classes you need.

You can take any elective you choose, but some humanities and social science course sections are reserved exclusively for engineering students. I think you will have to take a writing course if you don't get AP credit and a sufficiently high SAT verbal score. And speaking of writing, I hope you all like writing because freshman Engineering Analysis has a ton of writing assignments, in addition to weekly computer programs.

(sorry for the hijacking of the housing topic)

Not a problem was just hoping to instigate some conversation amongst future students.
