School of Computing and Information Admission stat

I think most of you can help me with this question. Is School of Computing and Information Science a separate school or does it have same requirement as Engineering. Please advise.

DS20 has 1370 SAT, will take again in June.

Will have 12 APs and around 3.7 GPA. Estimated top 20% to 30% of the class, no rank though. Instate.

It's not engineering, it's a separate school, but I thought you started out in Arts and Sciences for the first two years.

Stats are good, I would recommend applying early.

It is now a separate school - you can now apply to enter as a freshman

D got 1410 this time, but can superscore to 1460, with RW 680 and math 780. Maybe he can get in Engineering school now? He also has a 5 on cal AB.

His current unweighted is 3.61, but weighted is 4.8, which is the summa graduation honor. So I think DS might be within top 15 to 20%?

Appreciate your feedback. We are concerned that he doesn’t have the consistent work ethics needed for Engineering school, so the School of Computing might be a nice compromise. We’d prefer for him to go through Engineering (family tradition, lol).

D was accepted into Engineering with a 1410 SAT and 4.0 UW GPA (7 AP, rest honors). I suspect that SCI admission stats for Pitt are similar to Engineering. It's hard to say though since Pitt just started accepting students directly into the school.
I'd be concerned regarding the work ethic. If he doesn't have it for Engineering, I doubt a CS major will be any easier.

We toured Pitt on Saturday. SCI and Engineering has the same stat requirement. He will apply SCI.

We are hoping that he will grow more mature in college and starts to have better work ethics. At least as he told counselor that he started doing homework his junior year. His GPA is the best the junior year with four APs.

Good thing about SCI, he will already have finished the math requirements when he starts there.
