Pitt Engineering International Opportunities

I understand Pitt's engineering department has a wonderful international program, including studying, doing research, or even participating in a co-op abroad. I wonder if anyone has experience with this and has any first hand knowledge?

My daughter just committed to Pitt Swanson and we are really excited about all of the possibilities.

My daughter graduated from Pitt/Swanson in 2018. She studied abroad in Sydney for one semester and had a wonderful experience. Pitt made the whole process pretty easy. All classes were approved and credit transferred. I don't know anything about the co-op program. Good luck to your daughter. My son is supposed to start CS in August at Pitt. Let's hope for the best.

International study abroad programs were mostly cancelled for this semester and upcoming summer at most schools. I hope it goes back to normal soon.

Yes of course @momofsenior1 . Thankfully Pitt appears to be very flexible with their programs and it can fit into Sophomore through senior year potentially. Hopefully before she graduates we will be able to add travel back into her life!

I know of several engineering semester or Maymester type programs abroad. Lots of engineering students do those after freshman year.

I don't know of any engineering students who co-op abroad though. Have you joined the Pitt engineering parents FB page? Maybe you could ask there?

Many schools have global engineering programs which include co-op and internship abroad programs, including Pitt. My D's has friends at Purdue who were supposed to be in Peru this summer and Spain next spring. They are hopeful Spain will still happen and then Peru will be next summer. Another friend had an internship lined up in China (also now postponed).

Such exciting opportunities @momofsenior1 ! Pitt's international table did mention that because she is in engineering she would have more opportunities than in most majors. Let's hope some of it becomes possible in the next 4 years.
