I got my acceptance into SCHC in December and my scores are lower. 1340 SAT/ 32 ACT and 4.8 GPA. It's not an incredibly prestigious and selective program, I believe you will get accepted.

I got in with a 32 ACT and 4.5 Weighted GPA. My essays were really good though. It's the number one honors college in the nation, so it's an awesome school if you get in!

I didn't get in with a 30 ACT and a 4.37 gpa and OOS. Wasn't expecting it but why not try? I'm hoping to maybe get capstone scholar and some scholarships. Does anyone know when they release capstone decisions???

So if my daughter got a letter welcoming her to College of Arts and Sciences, does that mean she didn't get in honors college?

Was this just received or earlier? You can call honors college and check, but I think by now all invites to honors college have gone out. According to admissions website, decision pushed back by weather but anticipated to be mailed out by Feb. 19.....so they should be reaching students maybe through weekend depending on mail service. It is a separate letter from admission to university so you might want to check the first of next week to see it they are all out.

Thanks scmom12...she was admitted to USC back in December and received notification that she would receive in-state-tuition plus additional scholarship. We knew the honors college letters were being mailed this week. Received the letter from Arts and Sciences today. We just got back this afternoon from touring "that orange school to the north that shall not be named" and ruled that out!

@tookie411 I got my acceptance back in December for Honors College but I also received the Welcome to the College of Arts and Science letter, so I do not think they are related :)

BDM ...My freshman d rec'd her invitation to Capstone last year on March 8. Her scholarship letter came the same week...I believe a couple of days before the Capstone notification. The letter encouraged her to respond quickly about Capstone because of limited space in the program. We were told that they had a record number of Capstone scholars last year and that they had a tough time with the decisions. She did not apply to honors, however many of her friends on her Capstone floor did with some very impressive stats.Sounds like you have a very good chance. They also like a lot of EC's for Capstone.Good luck!

D got honors rejection today (1400 sat and 4.5 w gpa). We are in georgia. She was annoyed mostly because she wanted that "feather in her cap". Looks like she will enroll in either Tulane honors or UNC Chapel Hill.

D got honors rejection today (31 act/ high gpa) OOS. Letter said honors applicant pool has become more competetive this year. Granted I don't think she put 100% effort into application. Good luck to all who are still waiting. I'm hoping she gets a merit scholarship otherwise she won't attend. Also admitted to Tulane honors with major scholarship but really didn't like it.

My D also was rejected...31 ACT; 760 Math/690 Reading/670 Writing; 7 AP classes; excellent extracurricular activities; her GPA probably did her in...oh well. She did get in-state tuition and scholarship. We will find out in March about the scholarship amount. We have ruled out Clemson because of cost. We will wait for Georgia Tech on March 15th, but not too optimistic about that. Looks like we will be a Gamecock Family!

Found out last week that I got into the Honors College! 32ACT; 750 Reading/700 Math/690 Writing. My essays were also very well thought out and took three months to write. I'm beyond excited to call it my home in the fall!!

tookie411 - How did you learn that your daughter was getting "in-state" tuition? Most other posters in these forums state that you won't learn that until scholarships are formally offered sometime in early March. We are curious because getting a waiver of out of state "up charges" is pretty much a requirement for our son to attend and though we have received such verification from other schools, USC has been basically mute on that component and we have learned on the USC and this forum that unless you already got your scholarship letter (e.g. McNair scholarship), there was no assurance that you would get in-state rates.

@ndabunka...She received a letter back in December that she would receive a scholarship offer which would include in state tuition plus at least 500. The letter stated that the final details would come out in March.

Congratulations on getting those details in advance. In a different thread on this site, I asked if we would have heard from USC (like we did with another college) and was told... "Nope, you have to wait until March to learn if your son is being considered for ANY scholarships" so that was (apparently) in error. You look to have one nailed down so congratulations. We are still waiting to hear if our son will be considered for any waiver ouf out of state tuition

If you look at money matters, some of scholarships state that they come with OOS waiver, some say OOS tuition reduction. So if you got a letter saying you got at least X scholarship and it comes with OOS waiver, then you have a preview of what your offer is, but final packages do come out in March.
