Deferred then Accepted one week later?

My son got an email that he was deferred due to grades and the final admission decision would be after they receive first term senior grades. His GPA is 3.8 UW and 4.2 W only A’s and B’s. His senior schedule is all AP classes for a total of 10 AP. His SAT score is 1360. So this was quite a shock!! One week later he got his “Congratulations, you’re accepted!” email. We’re hoping the first email was just an error as this was quite an ego blow. He’s trying not to over think it because FSU is his first choice. Has this happened to anyone else?

Just call them to confirm. This happened to my D as well at another school - she got an acceptance letter along with a deferral letter in the same envelope. She called to confirm - and she was accepted.

I guess the deferred letter was a total error. He checked OASIS and not only is he confirmed accepted but he also received the Green and Gold Presidential Scholarship! Very proud of him! Receiving that deferred letter was so disappointing even if it was an error. These kids have enough stress this time of year

That is so stressful and with his GPA and SAT scores - just crazy he would be deferred at USF! Can you tell me about what date he applied? Thanks.

He applied around the end of September, was deferred on Nov 2nd and accepted on Nov 9th. Hoping this doesn’t happen to anyone else
