Do I need to go to the orientation to register for classes?

Hi. I am a transfer student. I want to avoid going to orientations as much as I can. If I don't go, what would happen to class registrations? I checked the orientation schedule and registering for classes is included in the schedule.

You would either come in person to meet with your adviser or speak over the phone and they would guide you through the process of registering for the first time. Details below.

You'd be last in line to register according to the rules as we read them. And I don't think the charge is waived. From the Transfer Orientation Page:
Note: Students who attend Orientation receive priority registration.

Students not attending an Orientation session who request a materials packet will be able to register for classes following the last on-campus Orientation session.

My daughter has attended school out of state so we though it was just a formality (she already understands dorm life, schedules, etc.). But she and my husband just returned from orientation and they really found it useful. Not to mention they met a lot of incoming students (and parents) and started forming bonds over those two days.

So why would you apply to USC then avoid one of the steps once admitted (unless going is a financial burden)?
