What do people do for fun at USC?

I'm thinking of transferring to USC next fall, and I'm wondering what the social life is like at USC. What do people do for fun? are there lots of places for people go? Are there a variety of things different kinds of people do, or is it pretty much just drinking and partying all the time? At the school I go to, there's not much of anything outside of our campus, so it seems that the general consensus for students here is to just drink and go to parties on weekends. So, is this the way it is at USC, or is it easy to find people and places that don't involve the typical getting drunk/partying scene? No biased answers please, I just want the truth so I can get an honest idea of what it's like at USC. Thanks.

Well USC isn't in the most commercial area so there isn't too much to do within walking distance of the campus, although there is plenty to do in LA if you have a car (or a friend with a car, or the metro which sucks). As far as the actual school goes, people do drink and party a good amount, but no more than any other typical American university. I would say it's easy to avoid it if that's not your thing and there are plenty of people who don't or do only once in a while. The school offers a lot of activities including football games, basketball games, any sports for that matter, as well as many special events on campus. There are guest speakers, concerts, plays, movie screenings, open mic nights, and much more all on campus. The school draws all kinds of students and is fairly big, so there will be people like you.

I enjoyed walking to get boba with friends, very close to campus. I also play tennis for fun, and check out the various clubs and events. I'd like to go exercise in the gym more often, but I rarely have time. Also, it's great to just call up some friends and go to lunch, hang out, or watch a movie.

i know plenty of people who don't drink or go to parties. just choose friends with the same ideas as you do for fun. lots of people like to watch comedy shows at Ground Zero while drinking milkshakes. we're also close to koreatown and little tokyo if you dont mind a short drive/longer bus ride (we usually get a larger group and then split fare on a taxi van). "the grove" and "the beverly center" are shopping havens. lots of great theaters. there's hollywood. and in LA there are lots of concerts/shows to enjoy.

on-campus, the Visions and Voices programs are often pretty interesting. and there are tons of clubs for just about everything you can think of... and you can always start one if you think of something no one else has done yet!
