College: College of Arts and Sciences with a major of IDP - Neuroscience

    Stats:
    SAT: Did not submit.
    SAT IIs: Did not take.
    ACT: 29
    GPA: 3.8 uw and 4.4 w
    Rank: Top 10%
Other stats: Will graduate high school with 67 college credits (associates degree). Will have junior standing at UTK.

    Subjective:
Essays: I submitted the optional common app essay because I had already written it for other schools. I did not spend much time on the supplemental essays.
    Teacher Recs: Great
    Counselor Rec: Great
Extracurricular Activities: Volunteered at three hospitals in Nashville, Red Cross, and other places (350 hours). I also shadowed several neurosurgeons and neurologists at Vanderbilt. I highlighted about that experience in my supplemental essay and why I wanted to study neuroscience.

    Location/Person:

    School Type: Public
    Ethnicity: Indian
    Gender: Female

General Comments: As long as your stats are above average, you should get in.

    College: Mechanical Engineering

    Stats:
    SAT: 720 M, 690 R, 1410 Composite
    SAT IIs: n/a
    GPA: 4.21 W, 3.9 UW
Rank: 1/approx. 250, but technically everyone who has above 4.0 at my school is considered "valedictorian." Realistically, I'm probably around 3rd or 4th.
Other stats: attends a community college part time taking entry-level engineering classes

    Subjective:
Essays: 8/10; one deals with my experiences with sexism in engineering but I made sure it didn't sound petty. The other deals with one of my interests and is very good but contained a typo (the common app showed a dash in my pre-submit PDF but not after)
Teacher Recs: One is probably meh, the other is spectacular. I didn't see either of them.
    Counselor Rec: 9/10.
Hook (if any): Female mechanical engineer; I'm not first in family but I have 3 older siblings who didn't go to college.

    State or Country: VA
    School Type: public
    Ethnicity: white
    Gender: female
