Does this means rejection?

After careful review of applications from a highly-competitive pool of applicants, the Admissions Committee at UT Austin is not able to offer you admission at this time. Approximately three times as many students apply each year as we are able to enroll.

im so sorry :( did you receive this by email or by snail mail? and did you receive this recently?

Yes. I'm sorry. They just don't want to start off a letter with "Sorry, you've been rejected."

    Good luck though.

I am so sad...UT is my first choice...
This year the acceptance percentage of OOS seems very low.
I am an international student from China.
Many many applicants from China got rejected.

UT is tough to get into, and obviously a little unfair... but no admissions really are. I'm sure you'll take an acceptance from another great school and do just fine. It's always what you make of it, ya know?

oh, and hi all the way across the world!

    Thanks,lastofthepirates
    I got into wisconsin-madison
But the weather there is terrible
    So I prefer UT

yeah, the weather is not great if you don't like the snow or cold. but you would be within day trip distance of Chicago, which is one of my favorite cities. By the way, weather or not, wisconsin-madison is a great school! congrats!

    Sat1 1520(CR720+Math800) Sat2 2390(MathII800 Phy790 CHem800)...

    I hate the top10% rule.
UT is even harder than ivy for intl students this year.

Don't feel bad- UT is ridiculously hard to get into this year if you're not top 10%. Congrats on Wisconsin-Madison!! That's fantastic! My cousins are trying to transfer to the U.S. and it's hard.

    I got rejected...but I know why

All I read was that I had sent some of my information too late (i.e SAT scores) so they would review my application if there was any room left. Of COURSE there wasn't any room left, this is a state school. I didn't read the rest because then I just ripped it up and threw it into the trash.

I wish they just put me in the waitinglist.....

Irokotree, I don't know if it is a little too late now, but there is a process of appeal for late materials. they had received one of my documents 2 days late, and when I called, a lady in admissions told me of the process of writing a letter to the appeals committee about considering a so called "late application." I wrote a long and adamant letter, and they approved it! now my status is still being reviewed I suppose (I'm a transfer applicant), but I am totally glad I wrote that letter. It might be good to call and see if that option is open for you.

I'm sorry galoisj, I had seen you around here for awhile. Don't worry, though- Wisc-Mad is a great school. You will do well there.
