    Decision: Deferred

    SAT I (breakdown): 1530- 780 Math, 750 CRW
    GPA: 4.3 Weighted, around a 3.7 unweighted
AP (place score in parenthesis): APUSH (4) (lol i forgot to sign up for them my junior year rip)

    Senior Year Course Load:
    AP French
    AP Statistics
    AP Language & Comp
    AP US Government
    AP Environmental Science

Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National Merit Commended Scholar, National Honor Society

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Model UN (President), Speech and Debate (Secretary/Extemp Captain-- finalist in my league last year), Mock Trial (VP), NHS, Guitarist/Vocalist at the School of Rock in FW, PA, Winter & Spring Track for all of HS (JV/Varsity)
Job/Work Experience: Free Lance Makeup Artist
Volunteer/Community service: I volunteer at my church and at a camp for people with disabilities called Joni & Friends

    Essays:
-Personal: 8/10- well-written I guess (lots of edits from other people and I got some feedback from adults lol) and it says a lot about my personality and how I interact with people
-Supplementals: 9/10- I really liked my supplementals and was told they were the best I've written from my editors.

    Teacher Recommendation:
    1) 8/10- I wasn't his favorite, but he was mine, and I think he sees me pretty well.
    2) 9/10- I was one of his favorites last year and we bonded really well and he saw me interact w/people in the same ways I described in my personal essay (so it was consistent)
Counselor Rec: 10/10- even told me it was glowing. I love my guidance counselor.
    Additional Rec: n/a
    Interview: n/a
    Other

    Applying for Financial Aid?: no
State (if domestic applicant): out of state
School Type: Public- very competitive. over 90% of each graduating class continues their educations. very white and suburban lol.
    Ethnicity: Asian
    Gender: female
    Income Bracket: $200k+
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): legacy- Dad attended UVA Med

Reflection-- Kind of expected this since my grades aren't up to par, but I am a legacy. This was in my deferral note:
"We regret that we are unable to offer you admission at this time, especially since we understand that you are the child of a University of Virginia graduate."

Strengths: ec's, essays, legacy status ((elitist, i know))
Weaknesses: GPA, ethnicity, school (a lot of people applied), OOS
    Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
    Accepted: UMich LSA!
    No WL/Rejects (yet lol)

General Comments: a little disappointed since UVA is a really great public school and it's closer to family/home than UM. It would've been nice to have it under my belt, but I am grateful I wasn't flat out rejected. Looking forward to April 1st now. Congrats to everyone who got in!

    Decision: Rejected

    Objective:
    ACT (breakdown): 33 (not superscored)
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0, weighted 4.4
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): top 5%
AP (place score in parenthesis): AP world, 5, AP Chemistry, 3, AP Lang, 5, AP US, 4, AP Calculus AB, 3
    IB (place score in parenthesis):
Senior Year Course Load: AP Literature, AP Government, AP Macroeconomics, AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, Art, Current Issues
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National Honor Society, Key Scholar, and some other things that I can't remember

    Subjective:

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Cello, violin, piano, commissioned artwork, National Honor Society (Secretary), art club
Job/Work Experience: Antique Store floor manager
Volunteer/Community service: Writing tutor (trained, 2 hours a week)
    Summer Activities:
Essays (rating 1-10, details): I had many people review my essays, and I was consistently told they were very good. They were also unique and a bit quirky, so I give them a 9.5/10

Teacher Rec #1: 9/10 from my AP Calculus teacher who I am very close to.
Teacher Rec #2: 9.5/10 from my AP Lang teacher, who really liked me and said that I was one of the best writers she has ever had.
Counselor Rec: 8/10, I don't know my counselor very well--it was just a formality, really.
    Additional Rec:
    Interview:

    Other

    Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
    Intended Major: English
    State (if domestic applicant): Georgia
    Country (if international applicant):
    School Type: Public school
    Ethnicity: White
    Gender: Female
    Income Bracket: 50,000
Hooks (URM, first generation college, legacy etc.): For my dad's family (my primary parent because my parents are divorced) I am a first-generation college student.

    Reflection

Strengths: My essays, recommendations, and grades were all very solid
Weaknesses: I guess my test scores weren't high enough? Or maybe out-of-state hurt me?
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I'm not sure. I guess I just didn't make the cut.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I was accepted to University of Michigan and UGA Honors

General Comments: I'm not too disappointed. It wasn't my dream school, but it did sting a little to see a flat-out rejection. I got into the University of Michigan EA, and since they have a lower acceptance rate I assumed that my odds were pretty good.

Essays (rating 1-10, details): Thought my Common App essay was rather good (maybe an 8/10?), nothing groundbreaking, but it gave a lot of insight into how/why I loved cars and how it has shaped who I am. Thought my supplemental essays were quite good and original (9/10 on one, 8/10 on another)
Recommendations (rating 1-10, details): Solid recommendations from (coincidentally) the two teachers who wrote my older brother's recs: 11th grade English teacher (did well in her class, had a good relationship) and my 6th/10th/12th grade math teacher who is also my advisor and like a mother to me. I'd say 8/10 for both

    Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):

Counselor Rec: 7/10. I've talked to her a decent amount, so she knows me fairly well, but I go to a large school.
Additional Rec: Orchestra teacher, 9/10. He's known me for almost 4 years and has been involved in my 2 organizations, so he can talk about initiative and all that jazz.
    Interview: Didn't do
