Could anyone possibly chance me for UW? :)

I am interested in studying Business (management more specifically) and then double majoring or minoring in East Asian Language and Linguistics (specifically Chinese).
(Listing East Asian Language and Linguistics as my primary major, since its less competitive as business)

My credentials are the following:

GPA (Unweighted/Weighted Respectively) : 3.5 / 3.8

*Most will be submitting my senior grades. With the semester almost over I have around a 4.5 weighted and 3.8-4.0 unweighted (AP courses include Chinese, Literature, and Calc AB) then 3 regular level classes (cp physics, gym, jewelry)

My grades have followed an upward trend from all Bs freshman year to a junior year where I got almost all As.

SAT : 1880 (1250/1600)
ACT : 28
SAT2: Literature 600
Math2c 650
(I know my test scores aren't great, I'm a pretty bad test taker, but a good student )

Teacher recommendations are from teaches that have known me throughout high school and I have taken multiple classes from. They both know a lot about my personal life.

Clubs:

Habitat for Humanity
Investment Club
Chinese Club

Activities:
Tutoring after school occasionally
and a couple of odd hobbies...

Notable Awards:
AP Scholar Award
Honor Roll all 4 years
Academic Varsity Award (lol? Idk I thought this award was kind of funny but I included it anyway)

Work:
Teachers assistant

I come from a pretty large public school, and my grade consists of about 1000 kids.
I'm ranked around the 200s.
The majority of students go to college after high school from my school.

Any opinion is greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Are you OOS or In-state?, your GPA is around average, same with your tests scores, EC"s are decent...if your instate i'd say match (unless you apply for business) if your OOS i'd say low-reach

@jkaplan1212: what's the difference if he/she is applying for business?

Omg, business is really competitive? I thought it was one of the lesser ones... Hope I don't get denied because of this... :(

Thanks guys. Yeah I was afraid of that. I'm actually out of state, so that may affect my chances a lot. I'm going to try to submit my application by the end of this week instead of waiting for the end of the deadline to help increase my chances.

I'm not sure last time I checked I think the business program was decently competitive, xzstarszx, although I am not 100% sure. But that is the reason I am listing East Asian Languages as my primary major, just to be sure.

    Does anyone else have input?

It's greatly appreciated guys, thanks so much!

    Edit:

My GPA has been following in upward trend every single year.

Also I think my essays are pretty solid. I will have some teachers look over them once more once school starts again just to make sure they follow the guidelines they are looking for.

I think you have a decent shot, although I would more confidently say so if you are IS.

After reading posts above, though, I start to regret a bit for putting Business as my primary major...I guess that's why it's getting so long for my application to even get reviewed? sighs, I wish I knew better.

I happen to speak chinese btw =) it'd be nice to see you at UW Foster.

    @ilikeUW

Foster was top 30 by Business Week, if I remember correctly 27 and according to a few friends I have there Foster is really trying to increase prestige, as stated by a Foster official at the Foster orientation. It's just like any other school, engineering at MIT is more competitive than like english, business at UW is more competitive than language.

Ah yes. I've only taken 4 Chinese classes, but its intrigued me a lot. UW is probably the best school for me to go to other than the UCs for my major.

Thanks for the response guys! This thread is much more specific and lively that then what-my-chances section!

Has anyone actually visited campus to tell me what they think? :) UW is my first choice school, but I have yet to visit it :(.

i have been to the campus. its not in downtown seattle but rather across the water about 10 min away.
i really liked the campus, especially the building architecture. it a pretty old campus so there are many large trees which is a good thing in my opinion.

i also went to a football game, and it would have been awesome but we happened to be playing oregon... lost by like 30 :(
