UCLA Art, USC Roski, Chapman Art program, Loyola Marymount Art

My D is a senior in California, interested in the above art college programs. Because she doesn't want to confine herself to one medium and wants to combine her major with business/entrepreneurship. I have read Wheaty's posts re UCLA Arts in this site and found it helpful. Wondering if I can get an update on what her D is doing now with her degree in Fine Arts/Art History or if anyone has insight on internship opportunities or differences between the programs. We have visited all of them! Thanks

My son is actually an Animation major at Loyola Marymount University and he loves it! Top notch program! He takes art classes as part of his major requirements in the drawing department. He mentioned Will Pupa was an amazing professor for his drawing 1 class.

Here are some student outcomes... LMU has a very strong career placement center, so it would be worth giving them a call.

My son actually has a friend in the business school who I believe is majoring in entrepreneurship. A little context: he chose LMU over USC and Babson.

I hope your daughter chooses the school that she feels best at... would be very cool if she chooses LMU! Keep the forum up to date... would love to hear where she ends up.

@flipmom -- I see you'd like someone to respond-- put a @ sign and then their screen name at the beginning of the post directed to them so they'll get a notification (the little bell sign).

    @ Wheaty
    Hello everyone and Wheaty:
so here's an update on my D's acceptances: she's in at UCLA as a Fine Arts major, USC Roski, LMU and Chapman as Presidential scholars/honors. She is leaning towards USC because she was told by assistant dean that their BA Art allows for flexibility in taking fine arts as well as design classes vs UCLA where she was told it was either fine arts or design. Wondering if that is true for UCLA- maybe they meant she couldn't major in both but that she could take design classes? She also is interested in internships in art/fashion as well as study abroad-thinking USC would be better for that? Finally, she is interested in minoring in business/entrepreneurship- wondering if it would be more difficult for her to get into those classes at UCLA. I'm glad she has great choices, she's worked very hard to get to this point, but it's a bit of paralysis by analysis!

If Wheaty is still looking in: have read all your posts about your daughters at UCLA and am hoping you can update us on UCLA and how it has prepared them for their careers and what they are doing now!

I appreciate all the input and words of encouragement.

Congrats to your daughter all of the programs are super competitive to get in. My D is currently looking at all of those schools for applying to for 2020 for design. Are they primarily looking at the portfolio for admission? Or does UCLA and USC really want super high ACT/SAT scores too? Thanks for the insights!

@flipmom what did she decide? I don’t know if @wheaty would have seen your message because there was a space between @ and the name. Curious to hear where things landed!
