Art Center College of Design : Thoughts?

I just got my acceptance letter to Art Center. I was browsing the forums and couldn't find any thoughts on it. I see it mentioned in many top art schools lists in many posts though.

What are you general thoughts about ACCD? (Other than the usual - horribly expensive one).

And College Board reports that 71% of applicants are admitted, but it seems like such a hard one to get in to, as do many reviews say. Thoughts?

Thanks everyone.

ACCD has always been thought of as having the best ID program on the west coast. If you are interested in ID, they would probably be a great choice for you.

As an illustration of this, several years ago, the valedictorian of RISD attended ACCD as a grad student.

    Thanks for replying taxguy.
I'm in for Photography (you've already told me several times RIT is the best for that hehe).

If you, or anyone else has any more thoughts, I'd like to know.

Azharc, Yes, I suggested that RIT is one of the best. Let me give you a more thorough list as suggested by US News and by some photographic folks, which are presented in no particular order:

    1. RIT
    2. SAIC ( School of Art Institute in Chicago)
    3. RISD
    4. University of New Mexico
    5. Syracuse especially for journalistic photography
    6. NYU
    7. Pratt Institute
    9. California Institute of the Arts, (This is NOT ACCD)
    11. VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University)
    12. Tyler College of Art
    and others

I was informed by a photographer friend that each program has their own culture and emphasis. Some might emphasize journalistic work. Some might have programs in underwater photography. Some might specialize in portrait etc. You really need to visit the schools and evaluate the faculty and determine the culture of their program.

Let me note that this list is in no way all inclusive. For example, I hear that University of Delaware has a good program too, and I am sure that there are other strong programs that aren't mentioned here. I just wanted to present you with a list of the some of the better known, ranked programs.

Let me note that I know very little about the photography program at Art Center College of Design. However, I have never heard anyone rave about their photographic program. Maybe it is because it is on the west coast, and I don't meet many of their graduates.

    I hope this list helps.
