Is the FYS an everyday class? I was looking at the schedule, and it didn't mention days (MW, TR, etc).

thanks :)

It should be like a normal class, which would meet for a total of 150 minutes a week. Most classes are either 50 minutes a day on MWF or 75 minutes a day on TR (occasionally you'll get a MW class - that would be 75 minutes both days).

Apparently times aren't set for FYSes yet, because they're not on WIN yet.

Yea, many FYS's are MWF and many TR. If you can't get into an FYS you're dying to take, then try to make sure whatever you get is MWF. Over an hour in a class you were "stuck with" can be kinda rough. There aren't many 5 day a week classes. Lower level language (153) is usually 5 days a week. Other than that there's not much, if anything.

Some FYS classes meet once a week, my first choice one met thursday for like 3 hours every week.

Yes, like W.wave, my son took FYS or maybe it was that other English as a once a week course from 6-9pm on Mondays. It was a topic he really like and the professor was great--so the 3 hours went fast and he enjoyed it.

I donno if he's going to teach a class next semester or not, but I had the BEST FYS ever. Dr. Dorutoye teaches Challenges to the Global Community.

Try taking that one. Its a discussion based class. Although there is a lot of reading, I loved it.

Does anyone know how many credit hours the FYS is? Does it count for the maximum 17 credits?

3 hrs, and I assume that it counts to the maximum 17 credits. I'm not sure as I've never gone over the 17 hours and had to get permission from the dean, but it's a course just like any other.

It's a 3 hour course and yes it definitely counts toward the 17 hour max.
