Is there room to have unbunked beds in the rooms in Collins? Are the dressers and desks built in or moveable? Are the halls usually coed by wing or by floor or by room? Thanks

There are some rooms in Collins that are big enough for the beds to be un-bunked and some that are not. It really just depends on your room and its set-up, and also your roommate. The dressers are moveable, but the desks are not. Halls are co-ed by floor. Each floor, except for the basement, has 3 wings and each wing is single-sex. A floor will have a mix of boy's halls and girl's halls. You won't be next door to a boy's room if you're a girl and vice versa. All the bathrooms are single-sex too.

I lived on the second floor in Collins last year. All the girls unbunked their bed, and all the guys didn't.

You have a huge closet and a sink!

A minor, ridiculous question: Is collins really the big party dorm? I'm not a huge party person, but I don't have anything against it. Are there people who go to parties and don't drink at all? Haha this sounds pathetic, I just don't want to be a loner!

First of all there aren't really "parties" in freshman dorms anyway. Second of all Collins gets the reputation of being a party dorm because it's the biggest freshman dorm. There are so many people around that there's always something to do. Also the central lounge between the three wings makes socializing easy than in some of the other dorms. It's not like there are raging parties every night in Collins. There are people who go to parties and not drink, although a lot of people who don't drink don't go to parties. If you choose not to drink there are a lot of people who have made that same decision and are definitely not loners.

    To add to ^,
People preparty/drink in their rooms. Music can't be too loud or they would get written up. No one parties in the lounge cause you'd get written up.

However on weekends, you will find a bunch of intoxicated people in the lounge making a lot of noise after a party at 2am.

007 , I don't drink much and I have a good social life at Wake :). I'm in a sorority and am involved in many clubs so I know ppl and therefore don't feel excluded if I go to parties etc. The key thing is just get involved and you'll feel right at home :)

Theres also a Sub-Free housing dorm (Johnson) which may be a fun hangout if you don't want to party at all. In all honesty, I agree with Scarlet and Saket --- you'll be fine!

i'd like to reaffirm that you don't have to drink and party hard to have friends. You just need to be confident in who you are!

but there is nothing wrong with drinking and partying either - don't ignore those ppl because they are human too.
