Washu Matches Financial Aid?

Hi guys, my dream school is Washu but it would be $30k to go there next year. But, I also got into Uchicago and to go there next year would be $13k. Do you guys think Washu would match Uchicago’s offer since they are both private schools with prestige or will Washu not give me extra financial aid?

After attending a financial aid forum at WashU, they made it very clear that they do not match financial aid with other schools but rather allow appeals for more financial aid. Hope this helps!

I agree with @Xaalis2020. I think it is good to contact the directer of Financial Aid and express your interest in WashU and let them know you would like them to reconsider the financial aid offer. They will most likely ask if something has changed in your financial circumstances since you originally submitted the financial aid form and they may ask you for any updated financial information so they can reassess the offer.

They would not want to be perceived as matching another offer from different school, but I don't think it hurts to share it with them - perhaps sending them a copy of the other financial offer along with any updated financial information they request can help.

WashU is a great school. Good Luck!

wow, and the weird thing is that they both meet 100 percent of demonstrated need and there's such a stark difference in aid
