Graduate journalism schools? selectivity?

There is so little info on graduate journalism rankings and selectivity and whatnot, and with the application process being so lengthy, I'm looking to avoid wasting time on applications to places that I have no shot at...if you guys have any advice, it'd be much appreciated!

Me:
I have a 5.5 out of 6 on my GRE analytical writing, but my overall score is around an 1100.

my undergrad gpa was 3.0. i did spend one graduate semester in an mfa program, where i had a 4.0.

i have a b.a. in english with a minor in history from a slightly above average school.

some experience at college newspaper, with freelance work experience and maintaining a blog since.

also have done 2 americorps terms of service.

I think i have the writing ability to do fine at columbia or american, but i also know how impossible some of their other programs are. can anyone assess the likelihood of me getting into some of these schools? is an application worth it?

and do you know any safer safety schools?

here's my list:
columbia
oregon
nyu
cuny
american

by impossible i meant impossible admissions standards...i don't want to waste an application on a school that's looking strictly for ivy league valedictorians that have interned with rolling stone and mtv, or led a media revolution under gadhafi or whatever.
