Hey guys, thanks for reading this, i'm desperate for some good advice.
I'm currently a grade 12 student from India studying cambridge A levels. I'm currently taking Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Computing and Biology as A levels and expecting As in all of them, and maybe an A* in computing.
I was initially aiming only for NUS, but my vice principal suggested i look at ivy league universities. The problem is, i took my sat for the first time in november, but i couldnt finish the last 3 sections because of medical reasons, and i got a score of 1970.
I'm applying to Cornell, Brown, and stanford for environmental science. I have Tons of community outreach, a couple of medals in athletics, A prize from a interschool debate, and some other stuff. I'm retaking my SAT in jan, but that's AFTER the deadline. I got 740 in my SAT biology and 690 in maths 2.

What are my chances?

Those are both reaches, especially if you're international. You need some safeties.

Thanks for the reply. I think I've done fairly well on the essays in the common application.
Would university of Wisconsin, Madison count as a safety?
additional info: i also have an internship, i've rescued and taken care of several animals including baby bats, puppies, kittens, etc - does this help at all? i have a black belt in karate. I've achieved high distinction in macmillan's IAIS which i took last year, and have gotten overall outstanding in another national diagnostic test - i got 100 percentile in 10th grade in science in this particular test. I've also been a boy scout who got to third level, in india it's called the thritiya sopan. i have a medal in abacus from middle school, not sure if it counts.

UWI: Low match (you have a great shot for UWI)

Your VP needs to take it down a notch. You're a good applicant, but your SAT really hurts you for Ivy Leagues. Look at some top state schools- UNCs, Penn State- University Park, etc

I agree with milkyway. It's not your SAT is low on a national scale, it's just that with acceptance rates of less than 10%, you have to be nearly perfect in every respect to have a chance. Also, as much as I hate to say this, your ethnicity (Asian) will disadvantage you as well. If you can impress them with your ECs and have your personality shine through in your essays, you still have a measurable, albeit small, chance of being accepted. I would also look at some great state schools as well as LACs, such as Oberlin (your SAT scores are still a little low for them, but they love international students and there's no app fee for foreign applicants). Good luck! :)

and feel free to chance me back

@Samone95, you need better SAT scores. at least a 2200 and your Math II is way too low. Get it 700+ somewhere. Overall those are reaches.

Stanford is going to be a very high reach bc youve got low scores for a US resident but your international. UW-Madison should be a match but note their admissions can be unpredictable.

Haha thanks for the tip, bro. I emailled brown, and they said they will accept sat scores in january. I hope this means i have a good shot. I'm not sure there will be time to retake my sat two though - but, i'm hoping my EC will give me that little something extra. Good luck for your applications!!

The schools will take January SAT scores. But your SAT2 Math is low as well. Stanford is pretty much out, IMO. Are you applying for fin aid?

I dunno, i'll have to talk to my dad. I don't want him to have to spend too much on my education at this point of my life. Should i drop Stanford and focus on cornell, brown and a few safety colleges, like Uni of WI, madison, and Uni of illinois, Urbana champaign?

I recommend directly emailing admissions counselors of the Ivies to see if they'll consider accepting them late because technically it wasn't your fault. If they don't, I think the colleges listed above UWi, madison, etc. are your best bet. Good luck!

Stanford and Cornell are pretty hard to get into. You might have a chance at Cornell.
I suggest really putting passion into your essays and making them strong. Maybe retake the SAT and ACT to increase your chances. Be yourself honestly.

for the other schools, you seem to have a somewhat good chance. But then again I've never looked into those schools.

    Good luck hun :)
