I'm a junior at a STEM school. I have not take the SAT yet. I have a 98.5138 GPA and class rank is 39/837. I'm not big on extracurricular but I'm in the Biology club and the Engineering club.

MIT has an admit rate of about 3%. It comes down to dumb luck. Have you thought about a scholarship?

Had to laugh that the OP stated his GPA out to 4 places. 1 place accuracy would already be overkill.

It's certainly not dumb luck. That attitude is nothing about what they look for. The bright kids are activated and accomplished (which doesnt mean contests or curing cancer.) And interesting, open to more than 2 clubs.

OP, I always find some irony in wanting one of the tippiest of tippy tops and asking what it takes. Have you read their blogs, checked what else they say and show?

Yes, stretch matters and 2 hs clubs may not seem energetic. They sound generalist. How are *you* active in stem? And what shows varied interests and engagements, the right rounding?

Based on the info you've provided, I'd say the chances are quite low. The class rank is not what MIT (or any top tier school) is looking for. Your chances might improve if you get perfect SAT/ACT scores, as well as perfect SAT II scores. And I mean perfect. Even then, the extracurriculars seem very thin. Have you received any prestigious awards?
