Hey Guys, just found this site and was like "wow i need to register" haha.. i need some opinions from you guys about my chances of getting into USC. its been my favorite school, always been a trojan fan and its my dream to go there. Im entering my senior year in hs and im getting scared becuase my gpa has been at the lower 3.0 range and im taking 3 ib classes this year (took 1 last year) to boost it up and to show colleges that i work hard. i havent taken my SAT's because of random problems and things that have come up but i am planning on taken them in september or october. i am planning on sending USC my sat scores and transcipt at around novemberish

GPA: 3.2 UW, 3.4 W
SAT: Sadly have not taken them yet.. i have to register for them quickly.. what are good scores which would help to get into USC?

2 years of French foriegn language
Junior year: took IB Hota 11 (history of the americas)
Senior year (this year): IB TOK (theory of knowledge), IB Math Studies, IB Hota 12

Activities: have over 60+ hours of community service
helped with sporting events around my town and helped around the post office.

Sports: Been playing football since 7th grade, going into my second year of varsity football.
Ive played lacrosse for 3 years and going into my 4th year this spring.. played varsity all 4 years.

I want to become a plastic Surgeon when i grow up, and people have told me that usc is a great place to achieve that becuase its known for its teaching of health and medicine and also usc is in southern california where plastic surgery is quite popular.

i am of persian decent. i was born here in california but my mom is iranian and my dad is afghan. i am bilengual in english and farsi, so that hopefully will help since i heard usc is into miniorities and such.

This senior year, i am really trying to achieve above a 3.5 gpa unwieghted, becuase i know that will help my chances a lot becuase colleges like to see there students doin strong in there last year...

any advice guys?? it would really be a dream to go to usc to help fulfill my plastic surgery career.

also ofcourse, What are my chances of getting into USC now? and after my senior year if i did acomplish what i wanted? also whats a good score for the SAT's to help me get into USC..

other things i should know about helping me getting into usc like resumes and such??

your help is greatly apreciated.. thanks a lot guys

p.s. i know i just typed a lot haha

    Admission stats for 2007:

    average unweighted GPA was 3.8
    middle 50% SAT score 1950-2220
    admittance rate 25%

However, in 2008, the admittance rate went down to 21%.
According to an admissions article in USC News of March 2008 here are some more numbers:

    Applicants for fall 2008........35,809
    Desired class size................ 2,600
Mean composite SAT score of admitted students......2108

The PDF file on enrolled freshmen has not yet been posted on the website for fall 2008.

3.2's going to hurt you a lot, but USC likes varsity athletes. It's a definite reach at this point but your best chance right now would be to get your SAT I up in the 2100-2200 range. That and a good personal statement and teacher recommendation.

alright, and lets say i do very well my senior year.. will usc take that into consideration?

They may take your senior scores into consideration, but I'm not completely sure.

Have you studied for the SAT yet? You need quite a high score to become a competitive applicant.

    I hope you do well.

    Good luck!

Have you taken any practice tests yet? Any idea what your score range is? You will definitely need a high score (think 2200) to make up for the low GPA.
