Chance Me for Williams!

Demographics: white middle class female from a rural area in the Midwest. Currently attend a boarding school

Intended majors: political science/international relations, Spanish, computer science?

SAT: 1540 superscored (770 EBRW, 770 M), highest score w/o superscore is a 1500

took the APUSH exam and got a 4, school doesn’t offer APs

W GPA: 4.18 (school doesn’t offer UW or rank)

Coursework: took all the honors classes or college level (school’s replacement of AP) courses I could, did well in them

Awards: National Merit semifinalist, got an award for the best junior in the school, Harvard book prize, U of Rochester Young Leaders Award, 7th place in a statewide writing competition, 3rd place in a schoolwide scholarly research paper contest

Extracurriculars: currently student body president, class president for the two years before that, prefect (like an RA) for junior and senior years, editor for the school paper for the past 3 years, head stage manager, studied abroad in the summer between sophomore and junior years (6 weeks), tour guide, analyst for the Student Investment Committee

I'm pleased with my Common App essay and I haven't read them but I'm confident my LORs are good.

I haven't visited Williams, but I did apply to their Windows on Williams program. Got rejected, but did get offered a fee waiver and the opportunity to participate in their WoW phone call program with an admissions officer, which they told me would double my chances of admission.

Obviously Williams is a crazy hard school to get into and somewhat of a crapshoot for anyone, but I'm just wondering if anyone could give me some insights. Thanks!

    Congratulations on your achievements!

While no poster on College Confidential has a crystal ball to know how admissions officers will view your finished application in its totality in comparison to those of other applicants, it sounds like you already received some positive feedback from the admissions office. Your scores are typical of those of Williams students as well. By all means, apply and see what happens! Good luck and best wishes!
