What are my chances? (Barnard)

mendes101mendes101 1 replies1 threads New Member
Hey guys! I applied ED to Barnard and I wanted to ask what you guys think my chances are of getting in.

I have a 3.5 unweighted GPA (I have had a lot of close family members die over the past couple of years, plus I had to pretty much help raise my two little brothers for my freshman year while my mom was working long hours)
I’ve still taken honors classes since then and I’ve now been maintaining an unweighted 3.7-3.8

1200 SAT

11 extracurriculars plus leadership positions in most of them

I’m a Girl Scout and a bass trombone player in nationally-ranked advanced bands

My essay was about growing up the child of a teen parent and what it’s been like trying to work really hard to make my mom proud (my English teacher who has been teaching for over 50 years said it was one of the best and most unique essays he’s seen)

I had a great interview

My high school has a great reputation

I’m in two honors societies

Let me know what you guys think!

nope. It doesn't matter what we think.

There is nobody on CC who can give you a meaningful answer- and there is nothing you can do now to affect the outcome. This is basically pushing on a sore to see if it still hurts: it does still hurt, and pushing it isn't going to make it get better any faster. So, you need to step away from CC until you get your answer- then come back & we will either celebrate with you, or help you make a Plan B.

We all get how anxious this time is. Do yourself a kindness and find a different way to channel your anxiety: do something physical. do something kind for somebody whose needs are greater than yours. do something really fun and distracting.

What collegemom3717 says is true but there's a ton of chance me threads on CC so why not indulge your anxiety? IMHO your chances for Barnard are very very low. Do you have a hook? First-Gen, URM? That would help but their admit rate is sub 15% I believe (higher for ED, but last year looked like most ED admit were SAT>1500). I do wish you luck. My D21 may apply Barnard ED next year and then we will be in the hot seat waiting...waiting.....

I am an URM and the child of a teen parent (which I talked about in my common app essay).
