I’d say that the Engineering internship is a big plus and you have definitely demonstrated commitment. However, your standardized test scores are low at least on the level of CMU, Stanford, Ivys, etc. Also, you haven’t shown intense interest in CS if that is to be your major. Overall, i’d say you’re a very high reach for CMU, Stanford, MIT, CalTech. Low reach for all the others. Good Luck!

work hard…retake sat…your ec’s are pretty good…but sat scores are slightly low…though to be realistic, you do have a very little chance to make the ivies…but admissions are so random you can never predict

Definately retake SAT consider the ACT because i found it much easier.

University of Texas - Austin
UCLA mid reach
UC Berkeley reach
UCSD reach
UCD match
UCI low reach
Cal Poly Pomona match
Georgia Tech high reach
University of Washington match
CalTech (EA), Stanford (REA), and MIT (EA) for the sake of just applying, I know I will probably not get in. High reach

I would recommend retaking the SAT, although your current score is definitely high enough for a lot of the schools you mentioned. You could also try taking an ACT practice test and see how you do on that. A lot of people prefer one test to another. I think you look pretty good with regards to your activities so that should help you.

Caltech, Stanford and MIT: High reach because they’re so selective, but definitely apply, especially if you boost your scores.

Carnegie Mellon (ED): FYI you can’t do REA to Stanford and ED here. Reach.
University of Texas - Austin: Match
UCLA: Match/High match
UC Berkeley: High match/Low reach
UCSD: Match
UCD: Match
UCI: Match
Cal Poly Pomona: Safety
Georgia Tech: High match/Low reach
University of Washington: Safety

Thanks for the chance. Take a look at the ACT.
Carnegie Mellon (ED): Reach.

UCI: Match
Cal Poly Pomona: IDK
Georgia Tech: High match
University of Washington: match
Cannot go Stanford REA and CMU ED

Carnegie Mellon (ED)-Reach
University of Texas - Austin-Low reach/high match
UCLA-high match
UC Berkeley-high match
UCSD-low match
UCD-low match
UCI-low match
Cal Poly Pomona- idk
Georgia Tech- match
University of Washington- low match
CalTech (EA)- High reach
Stanford (REA)- High reach
MIT (EA) -High reach

I would definitely retake the SAT to bump up the scores and also consider the ACT in September. Also for University of Washington and Georgia Tech, I doubt you will get much or even any need base aid so keep in mind that they might not be affordable with your parents income that low. Good luck tho :)>- :)>- :)>-

I would definitely retake SAT again but just study hard and focus on CR so you can super score. Or I would suggest taking the ACTs. Since you seem to be better at Math than CR, it may help. I found CR and Writing on ACT MUCH easier than SAT.

Carnegie Mellon (ED) Reach

Cal Poly Pomona I don’t really know enough to say
Georgia Tech High Match

I think Stanford and MIT are both very high Reaches. Your test scores just aren’t high enough.

My sister had a 2330 on SAT, excellent ECs but slacked a tiny bit senior year (still good GPA) and she got waitlisted at MIT and CM. So it may be luck of the draw. Good Luck!

all uc’s, ut austin, and u of washington are matches i think. ur sat is a bit low for high end schools but uc’s put emphasis on gpa, so ur fine.

Good extracurriculars. Yes, you should retake the SAT to get above 2200. Don’t worry about USH for sat 2 but do worry about chem and physics. If all goes well. You have a chance at all the UCs (Berkeley would be best for you) Caltech, Stanford, and MIT are reaches. Please chance back ^_^.

I think some people early on were a tad harsh. First of all, you are compared to the rest of the students in YOUR class. So at a school where your GPA makes you valedictorian, I am assuming that the average SAT is below the national mean. Therefore, a 2120 is absolutely outstanding. At a socioeconomically disadvantaged school, you did your best and surpassed the rest of your class. I would rank your chances as follows:

CMU: High Match
UT Austin: Match
UCLA, UC Berkeley: Match
UCD, UCSD: Low Match
UCI: Safety
Cal Poly Pomona: Safety
Georgia Tech: Match
UWash: Safety
CalTech, Stanford, MIT: High reach, just like they are for pretty much everyone else.

As an engineering major though, I would try for 750+ on your science subject tests, but leave Math 2 as is, I do not think it will hold you back considerably.
