Colleges for the Jewish "B" student (Part 1)

@Cheermom, my escape strategy was to move back home to California for a few weeks. The only blanket I’ve needed is one for the beach.

@ExpatCanuck, would your son consider WWOOF http://www.wwoof.net/</a> ? A friend of mine did it and credits it with getting her French up to conversational level. Hers was a shorter program, but after she got to ride the train around Europe and did it with one of the people she met on the French countryside.

@Charlucas, Union seems like a pretty decent, albeit selective, school for a B student. According to its common data set, 57% of students had below a 3.5 (only 34% submitted class rank, making the statistic basically useless) and the overwhelming majority of students scored below a 700 on every section of the SAT. It seems to be a school for the high stats B student rather than one whose SAT scores and GPA are right around the national average.

I didn’t realize Fordham’s Jewish population was so small. I just remember looking at it with my mom when we went to NYC and seeing a temple next to it. I guess I assumed the Jewish population there was going to be quite large. The issue with Binghamton’s selectivity was noted in the list. For OOS B students, it is a possibly viable option. Not so for in state ones.

Here’s the updated list. I added Stony Brook, took off the A student schools (UFlorida, Smith, and Wisconsin-Madison) and Fordham. Someone more familiar with the SUNYs than I am should include whichever ones have confirmed strong Jewish life
