*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

Wow. Sorry about all the rejections today. It’s really tough to take considering how qualified we all are, but as IMGDAD and others have been saying, we only need one school, and even if that doesn’t happen, there’s always the 4+4 route. We’ll all become doctors regardless.

@MedicalBoy- thanks! Great meeting you :)

JUST GOT HOME. So for future BU interviewees, I’m posting a little about my experience:
There are two interviews; one with a professor from the College of Arts and Sciences and one with a doctor affiliated with the medical school. The interviews are open file, so interviewers have all your info before seeing you. That isn’t to say that your interviewer will know everything about you. My med school interviewer actually didn’t spend much time reading about me so he knew very little. My college of arts and sciences interviewer, on the other hand, did know quite a bit but he asked me to expand on a lot of my ECs. Both were conversational and very chill, super low stress. BU does a good job of taking out the high level of nervousness related with the interviews. They don’t have any questions that they have to ask. My ug interviewer actually asked me some stuff about my medical research, obama care, and the future of medicine, but my med interviewer did nothing of the sort. But every single student has a different interviewer so my experience doesn’t speak to much except that you shouldn’t think that the interviews will be extremely intense. They just wanna make sure that you can make eye contact, interact well with others, and that you can speak well about your experiences and why you want to be a doctor. My med school interview questions were VERY open ended (tell me about yourself, why should we accept you, why Boston) so I would suggest writing down a few points you want to mention about yourself and read them over right before the interviews so you know what you want to say. Also know why you want to go to BU and the med school. They emphasized that students have to be a good fit in both my interviews. The student lunch was awesome- there were so many food options and they split us up into groups of about 5 interviewees per SMED student. Also wear comfy shoes (but business-y!) because you have to walk to your professor’s office- mine was several blocks away. They give you a sheet with directions but no guide, so be prepared to walk in the cold! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Wow… leaving early early tomorrow morning to drive to Philadelphia for Drexel/Drexel interview. I hear there’s an essay, so we’ll see how it goes lol.
