NHRP Class of 2015

I have some info. Our NMF score thread got side-tracked on a discussion about NHS and I started looking up scholarships. I also got some info by e-mailing FA and scholarship offices directly. Am waiting to hear back from others so will add as I hear. I’m using the NMF scholarship list as a base, now maintained externally. These are all large scholarships.

Schools that match NMF offer:
From website:
UAlabama-Birmingham
UAlabama-Huntsville
U Arizona
Arizona State University
FIU
Fordham
Northeastern
UNebraska-Lincoln
U Tulsa

From e-mail communication:
UCentralFlorida(was told $25K/yr, maybe less than NMF???Waiting to hear more)

UKentucky

Schools that offer nothing automatically, or only token amounts like $2K/yr:
From website:
Auburn
Oklahoma State
Texas A&M
UMississippi

From e-mail:
LA Tech
UAlabama
UMinnesota

Schools that offer substantial money, but less than for NMF:
From website:
Mississippi State- tuition/fees/books (no rm/bd)
UT-Dallas- tuition/fees +$2K/yr (smaller stipend than NMF)

Be aware that some schools may impose extra requirements on NHS to receive these scholarship, like GPA/rank etc. I saw one school that required one parent to be full Hispanic. Have to check each school’s website and e-mail/call if anything is unclear.

Also, many schools are eager to enroll good students of Hispanic background even if they don’t offer NHS scholarships and have other scholarships available. But they often are not automatic and a bit harder to track down. You can get substantial money that way but need to do some legwork.
