It says on the CSU Mentor website that you need a C or better in all the a-g required courses: “The CSU requires a minimum 15-unit pattern of courses for admission as a first-time freshman. Each unit is equal to a year of study in a subject area. A grade of C or better is required for each course you use to meet any subject requirement.”

However, after digging around a bit, I found that “A grade of C or better in Trigonometry or Pre-calculus validates the entire high school college preparatory requirement” for CSUs http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/csu-uc-a-g-comparison-matrix.pdf
