Since it was over 1700 posts ago on this thread I’ll re-summarize and add to some anecdotal information from my GC in ID. Idaho typically goes slightly into the 98% percentile for cutoff score (which historically ranges from 207-211) to get its 80 or so awardees. Idaho has been doing Common Core for a couple of years. PSAT is a school day test for our district and all the kids in the school take it.
Our district has about 20 of the semi-finalist in the state, but our school has maybe one or two a year.
GC said they had:
10 students in the top 1% for SI and Total Score (2% of the student body)
About 25 kids scored above 199 for SI (5% of the student body)
I can’t see a 10 fold increase of NMSF in our school.
D had 1390 / 206 – Great score but we are hoping for commended. Probably missed NMSF by 2 or 3 questions. Guessing the cutoff for Idaho will be 210 - pretty much unchanged from last year.
