Your Bama Brags...don't be shy! :)

It’s been a long time since I have posted here. My D graduated in May with majors in Communicative Disorders and Psychology on a National Merit Scholarship. While at Bama, she did research, was a president of her sorority, played an intramural sport, and had an all-round great experience.

Speech Pathology grad schools are extremely competitive, accepting from 8-25%. She applied to 8 programs with a 4.0 and good GRE score. She was accepted at 5, (3 top 25) rejected at 2 and wait listed at 1. All acceptances came with financial aid or scholarships. She is doing great this first semester. She is President of her school’s chapter of the national speech and hearing association and still maintaining her GPA.

All this happened because I read a post from Mom2collegekids in 2009 about National Merit scholarships. Without that knowledge, D would have attended the local commuter school, with loans.

D’s loved UA so much she skype tutored hs junior cousin in RI for ACT and PSAT so he can afford OOS tuition. He got a 33. She’ll do the same with the younger cousins. She wants them to be a Bama family. Thanks M2CK and other CC’ers for sharing UA and financial aid info over the years.
