I got rescinded... Now what?

So I thought this summer was going to be a great one, considering I got into my first choice college. I was looking forward to a bright future as an electrical engineer, making a good salary after graduating from college and living a stable life. Now I know I was wrong.

I got a letter in the mail today from my university that my admission is being revoked for poor academic performance. I never really did well in physics and ended up getting a 59 in the class which technically counted as a failure, an F although it should have been a D-. And second, I got a 67 in literature which lowered my average even more. Everything else was good though; besides the F and D I had all A’s and B’s, but now that doesn’t matter anymore.

Now I have no future anymore. I can’t be an engineer. All because those single ****ing two grades killed my college acceptance, and consequently my future. I don’t even know what to do anymore. These days you need a college degree to get all the good jobs. I have no skills that can help me survive on my own, and I doubt I can be an entrepreneur or something that doesn’t require a college degree to be successful. How am I supposed to make it in the world with just a high school diploma? Work at McDonalds for the rest of my life? I know I can also work my way up, but now I have a glass ceiling on top of me because I have no college degree.

I don’t know what to do anymore. It’s a shame to go to a community college, I look down on it. I did not spend all that time getting involved in extracurricular activities, volunteering, prepping for APs and SATs, writing those college essays and gathering them together… and worst of all paying $1000+ for SAT reports + subject test reports, doing those individual supplements, deposits, and the application fees… all for NOTHING.

I might as well give up now… advice?

Don’t understand what you are saying here; what DID you do it for?

Anyway I’m pretty sure most kids ( CC notwithstanding…) go to community college. Shame on them? Because YOU look down on them? Most don’t.

Can you try applying to a Community College? I know it might not sound like the best option but you can get your basic classes covered while saving a boatload of money at the same time.

wow. awful.

Dang, I guess that poor prom date whom you’re too good for is looking awfully good right about now…

He went to prom before this happened i would assume. Give him a break. Comm C isn’t a horrible option…

But i guess he had it coming that son-of a mother duck.

It’s hard to be a believable ■■■■■ when you use the same account over and over again for your posts. C’mon man, this one wasn’t even amusing.

You were ‘looking forward to a bright future as an electrical engineer’ but you ‘never really did well in physics’?

Why do I suspect another ■■■■■ thread?

I think this might be a ■■■■■, but if you’re serious … then that sucks some major ****…

The best advice I can give you is that this should be a lesson to you. You should be happy you didn’t **** up later in life as a grown adult with full responsibilities. Starting out at a community college instead of your first choice college sucks, but think about it- It’s a lot better than, say, accidentally getting too drunk - getting in a car and then killing a child walking across the street- convicted of manslaughter (felony)- lose your job as an engineer forever. Life isn’t over, just keep telling yourself that you’ll never **** up liike that again. It coulld be a lot worse.

My question is, how in the WORLD is a 59 supposed to be a D-? I guess other schools grade differently, but at mine, even if you had done 10 points better, you still would’ve gotten an F.

As far as I know, the local community colleges in my area are all horrible. They may be decent in some places like California but not where I live. To give you an example, my local CC has pre-algebra under its mathematics section. And it includes “HTML programming” (wrong terminology) and MS office under computer science. Needless to say, it sucks.

Also engineering is more than just physics, it’s also math. I didn’t do well in physics because my teacher was very hard, the way he graded and tested was hard. I have gotten straight As in math consistently throughout my 4 years of high school. Don’t doubt me, I know I’m very smart and can become an engineer, but not with this blocking me.

what jd989898 said. DON’T GIVE UP! Even though you probably deserved this…

To all of you who say I deserved this for mistreating my prom date:

****!!

This has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with my prom date! I don’t believe in nor do I give a damn about karma. It does not exist get that straight.

Karma’s a b…

You don’t deserve it for mistreating your prom date. You deserve it for not trying hard enough in class. If you weren’t even capable of passing 2 AP classes, how could you possibly have expected to make it through a top engineering school? Unless you really were capable and just didn’t care.

I had senioritis, I didn’t care about school anymore… still it’s not fair my college can take away my acceptance for poor performance my last semester of high school. I’m sure I could have passed them, I just didn’t try hard enough. And they are giving me this extra-harsh “punishment” which I don’t deserve given all the ****ing effort i already put in!

Which college did you get rescinded from?

Also, what college is your prom date going to?

Oh, how the tables have turned…

^ Lol, God, you guys are dumb. The guy’s a ■■■■■. I was a ■■■■■ in my younger days and I see a little of myself in him. He’s cool, but you all are wasting your time.

IDK, i think he sounds pretty legit. That is a crappy situation to be in. How do your parents feel?

I’m not mentioning the name but it was a top engineering school. My prom date is a junior so she still has one year left. But seriously, even if she gets full financial aid she won’t be able to go to college because she can’t pay room and board which are not covered by FA, plus the cost of books and everything. She is poor as ****.

Also stop accusing of me of being a ■■■■■. Take a look at how long I’ve been on CC before, and look at my previous posts. They are all legitimate posts. Seriously do your research before making these unbacked up accusations.
