A very swift response to her comment on Twitter about Valerie Jarrett. Wanda Sykes quit, Sara Gilbert made a strong response, the show quickly canceled today. She’s apologized, says her “joke” was in bad taste . That’s an understatement!
Ya, on NBC news tonight. This hurts Rosanne, but so many other people too.
Yes, her castmates, writers, crew will all suffer because of her racist and crazy remarks .
Good riddance,
I’m glad ABC took quick action.
I deliberately chose not to watch even one minute of the remake.
Interesting article on the firing arguing that basically Disney/ABC decided social media fury and possible boycotts didn’t make it worthwhile to keep the show on… even though it’s one of the highest-rated.

A side note: the head of ABC is an African American woman. I sure hope she had something to do with the swiftness and decisiveness of this move.
I watched some of the remake, mostly because it was on before The Middle. It was awful. I didn’t really understand how so many experienced actors could become so stiff and really bad at acting. Maybe they weren’t practicing at all and just doing one takes, but they really seemed bad to me. The ‘plot’ was also missing.
I’m not sure it was long for this world anyway.
Good riddance. No space for bigots. Too bad other people will lose good paying jobs because of her.
I never watched her show the first time. Never liked her or found the show entertaining so certainly wasn’t going to watch her comeback show. I’m obviously not her target audience.
The actress who played her grand daughter was ready to quit before it was canceled as well. I suspect there would have been more.
I feel bad for the cast and crew but then again, she really hadn’t hid what she has become and they were all aware that she could say something at any moment to derail everything. Too bad they lost the roll of the dice.
" She’s apologized, says her “joke” was in bad taste ."
Pretty much everything Roseanne says is in bad taste.
“Pretty much everything Roseanne says is in bad taste.”
Boom.
Bad taste, not good at all. I wish everyone was treated the same at the network. Yes, Joy Behar, I’m talking about you too.
Her show will be picked up on another network in no time.
Good riddance.
Twitter strikes again. B-)
The show’s audience was apparently about half what it was at the beginning.
I found her disgusting and none of this is a surprise. I never watched her show either time around.
I never got the entire Roseanne thing. Not in the first series, nor the remake. Just watched a little of the later show and was unimpressed.
Not only was her comment rude and racist, but stupid and self destructive. Or maybe that’s the way she usually speaks, so she didn’t even think about saying such a thing publically.
I commend Disney for a smart decision today, but question their original decision to reboot the show. I wasn’t a fan the first time around and didn’t watch this time either. Count me as another in the good riddance camp.
The new show’s plot lines and writing were terrible, and the acting was worse. I think America can survive without Roseanne.
I found her comments reprehensible and indefensible, but as a parent of a kid studying to get into a tech position (in theater, etc.), I feel badly for the ordinary people who lost their jobs. I sort of wish that they had made her donate her salary to a charity of Valerie Jarret’s choice for x number of episodes and then let the show run its course. At least the other people would have known the show was likely on its way out and could start looking for other work.
I also didn’t watch the show the first time around and had not this time, either.
There are racists everywhere. Even an Iranian woman was caught on camera last week in the San Jose area of all places making fun of Chinese people.
You should see her recent twitter exchange with Chelsea Clinton. She’s a total whack job at this point.
I used to watch her old show occasionally, and I enjoyed some things about it. This one, I never considered making the effort.
