We are anxiously awaiting decisions from both Clemson and University of South Carolina, where my dtr was deferred by both after EA…anyone else? They are her top 2…
Same here! Daughter deferred from Clemson, U of SC and Georgia back to back in Dec. It was a buzz kill, it’s not a “no” but it’s not a Yes, we love you! These are her big 3 as well. She has good stats 4.1 gpa, 1300 SAT, 7 APs, president of NHS, class officer, and a bunch more stuff. Her big sister is at UTK and she did get accepted there into the school of engineering. Also waiting in Texas A&M Engineering and her reaches are UVA and UT Austin (pretty confident those aren’t happening). Sending positive thoughts to all those waiting!
Best of luck! My dtr is undeclared for both…3.49, now a 3.66 after a 4.0 quarter…a reach for both but we are staying hopeful! She’s gotten into many great schools but these are her faves.
I’ll assume you’re in state and have a back up - C of C, Coastal, Winthrop, etc.
It’s ok to hope, etc. but make sure you have Plan C (if case A and B don’t work out). The safety is the most important school on the list. If the student can love two very different schools in U of SC and Clemson…they can love others too.
Clemson, especially, has become a harder admit.
Good luck.
Not sure if this is interesting to anyone, but my daughter emailed her admissions counselor at Clemson and she said that during EA they only look at first choice of major but for RD they look at first and second choice. I hadn’t heard that before so just thought I would share.
If you need another school you might check out UNC Charlotte. It’s a little easier admit but has some great programs and us growing rapidly.
I’ve seen Valentine’s Day as a possible day for Clemson…has anyone else heard, other than mid Feb?
When do we start watching buttons?
Start? I did already!
Waiting on USC and College of Charleston:pray:t3: I’m hoping it’s sooner than later. I keep hearing “March” .
Same for my son. Waiting on those and UGA.
I heard UofSC sent some at the end of Feb last year, so there’s that hope! We are OOS but got into (for SC schools, which is the hope since we are moving there) CofC and CC…and UofSC Beaufort as a back up, also…great option, albeit small, just outside Hilton Head!
Deferred from USC-sibling goes there and it’s not a top pick. Did not apply to Clemson, deferred from UTK… this is going to be a long few months.
What’s the top pick?
Please make sure you have plan B. There are many other schools that might be ‘like’ schools and assured.
U Kentucky and U Arkansas would both be like the two mentioned, as an example. Other schools are easy admits for both.
Good luck while waiting.
Second vote for University of Arkansas. The Walton School of Business is excellent (higher ranked than USC per US News…yes the rankings suck I get it but they do offer some level of comparative value), and Fayetteville is incredible. Tons of Fortune 500 companies in the area due mostly to Walmart presence. 3.5 hours to KC, 4 hours to Dallas.
And the icing on the cake is that UArk has the New Arkansan Non-Resident Tuition Award. If you have a 3.6 GPA or higher (it might be a 3.8 now that I think about it), you get 80% of the difference between in state and OOS tuition waived.
Wow. That’s a great deal!
I picked those two. Nice campuses. Small cities. Fayetteville is really nice.
Likely easier admits.
Lots of safeties out there depending on stats
Just saying have a plan. Waiting on deferral is shaky at best.
My dtr has several safety schools already…waiting on top choices…
Waiting on JMU…
