Ok, I am doing my TAG application. My major is Mechanical Engineering. My dream school is UCSD but I want to be open-minded so I also going to select UCSC. Why they don't have Mechanical Engineering?

Is there a major that is close to Mechanical Engineering? not Electrical..

Doesn't look like any of their majors are that close to mechanical.
Majors in the Jack Baskin School of Engineering include:

    Computer Engineering
    Computer Science
    Computer Science: Computer Game Design
    Electrical Engineering
    Information Systems Management
