Research/Internship Opportunities

Hello, I am a rising senior looking to major in neuroscience/psychology, and I would like to know the prevalence of students getting involved in research or some kind of internship? How difficult/competitive is it to get on board with research? Is it a significant part of the culture at Amherst College?

Many students do research both during the year and in the summer, it's a competitive process in summer especially. There are numerous internship programs and resources including Amherst Select. Amherst also provides funding, by application, for unpaid internships with non profits or arts, government. Most majors including Neuro will have a senior research honors component. I suggest you check the web site for Neuro, psych, internship and career center and summer surf research program for more info.
