Can I get into BC with a 3.4 gpa? Also, advice?

I really want to get into Boston College, although my grades are going down this year and I will probably end up with a 3.4 gpa this year. I am a junior and am taking all honors classes, except for advanced Spanish. The biggest problem is that my gpa has been going down since freshman year. I got a 3.7 and for sophomore year, I got a 3.67. By the end of this year, I will probably get a lower gpa than those two. Also, any advice for BC college application?

Why is your GPA going down? Have you thought about that? A negative trend in grades will hurt at any selective college.

Yeah, I have thought about it. The classes got harder and over time, I took higher level classes. I started out with some standard classes during freshman year. Then all honors sophomore year. Then this year in math class, my tests are worth 95% of my grade and I have not been doing good on the tests, so a lot of my gpa going down has to do with math. Also with history, my teacher is a hard grader. Also, I feel that a part of this is because I have harder teachers compared to my first two years of high school because in my first two years, I had pretty easy teachers.

I would not write that explanation on your BC application.

BC classes will be even harder.

In general, ~85% of BC matriculants were in the top decile of their HS class, so the odds of a downward trend 3.4 are very low. Hopefully, you have met with your GC and worked up a good list of safeties.

    Good luck.
