Separating from my twin

So for 11th and 12th grade, I went to boarding school, but my twin sister still goes to our home high school.

This was really rough for me because I was what most people call the “submissive” twin and I always lead a life by “following the leader,” aka my twin sister.

Going away to boarding school made me realize just how much I hadn’t yet experienced as an independent person and I became a lot more comfortable with branching out and becoming my own person rather than a half of one.

I was thinking that… maybe… for the princeton supplement that asks about “someone who influenced you in a significant way” that this could work? I know having a twin isn’t all that special, but I think our separation did really impact me for the better.

However, I was also thinking that maybe I should focus more on the person who convinced me to stay at boarding school when I was really homesick without my sister and how she is the reason I stayed at school and became who I am today…

Anyone have opinions?

I like the twin story.

Combine both in your essay.

I like your topic a lot. If you choose to include the info. about the person who influenced you to stay at boarding school, make sure the essay remains about you and not that person. Remember, it is only 650 words which is very short.

BTW, good for you for branching out on your own and growing independent at such a young age.
