So, that awesome, cool ‘computer thing’ from the Disney movie “Read it and Weep” is called a tablet PC, eh? I really want one, but when I looked it up it’s about 1000 dollars.

So, I decided to give up the $300 I saved up for a digital camera to buy myself a tablet- not a tablet pc, but just a tablet.

I want to be able to carry it around with me and make sketches AND sketch while it is plugged on to the computer so I can see what I am drawing on.

ANyone know how to get a good one for cheap? Thanks!

What you saw was a Slate style Tablet PC. A Slate usually comes with a separate docking station with a a keyboard and an optical drive (dvd/cd).

Slate manufacturers: Motion Computing, Fujitsu, HP and Electrovaya Scribbler.

For around $1000, there’s only the Gateway Tablet PC which is a Convertible Tablet: a Tablet PC that has the keyboard attached via a swivel center hinge which allows it to be used like a regular laptop or as a Tablet.

Tablet PCs are starting to show more and more in movies and on tv:

Tom Cruise used one in the movie “Collateral”.
The TV series “Bones” has the character “Angela” use one.
The TV series “24” has Chloe walk around with one…

if i were you i would wait. i would save up more $ to get a quality PC. i see from your other posts that you’re only in 8th grade…if you want a computer to last you through high school, or at least most of high school, you ought to buy one that is of high quality, and for that you’re going to have to spend closer to 1000 dollars

oh i dont want a computer! i specifically said i want a tablet, not a tablet pc, because of the prices, etc. i have my own junky computer which i’m pretty contented with.

i do a lot of simple, basic graphic designing, and i thought having a tablet would get me to the next level.
