Poli Science Major (Help)

What are some colleges that have a good Political Science department, but aren’t extremely hard to get into?

My uncle and aunt both very successful in DC and can hook me up with a job/internships throughout college, but I still want a degree from a solid school.

I like the idea of a private school with a nice campus.

Thanks Alot

Dickinson in Pennsylvania

Most colleges offer a Political Science major and their curriculum are very similar. Just find a school that you would like to attend and apply.

I know but are there any colleges that have a more impressive Political Science degree than most of their other degrees?

Washington DC + poly sci + solid school = Georgetown. :)

You could look at GWU or American U, too, if you want schools that are easier to get into. The DC schools are all very politics-oriented, for obvious reasons.

It depends on what your perspective is on “not too hard to get into.” My older son started out at a private top tier LAC that also has it’s own law school. He transferred after his freshman year (not due to the academics, he got straight A’s. Didn’t like the atmosphere). He transferred to a public in-state college. He saw little difference between the political science classes. Actually, he enjoys the classroom discussions and debates more because of the less homogeneous points of view. My suggestion is to first find a school that you would enjoy attending regardless of its ranking or prestige. Your success (however you describe success) depends on your own achievements wherever you decide to get your undergraduate education. You’ll get out of it what you put into it. With Political Science, you’ll most likely continue your education in Grad School or Law School. Worry about the “impressiveness and prestige” for that stage of your education.
