- I'm a Executive committee member of my audio+video club (ava club)
- 2 work-attachments (1 at a marketing firm, 1 at a bank)
- some community work

academic
-I jz took SAT a few weeks ago but I guess i did badly (expected: CR <550, Maths 800, 650<WR<700)
-SAT2 gonna take in June (expected: Maths1 800, Maths2 750, Chem 750)
-Secondary score (O level): Maths A, Chem A, Physics A, combined humanities A, English B, Literature C
-Expected score for Alevel: Maths A, Chem A, Physics A, Economics B, English C

major intend to take in future: Econs/Banking

Family contribution: <8k

other schools i also intend to apply to:
dream: grinnell, middlebury, vassar, swarthmore
reach: macalester, bard, conncoll, dickinson, gettysburg, kenyon
safety: kalamazoo, hendrix, wittenberg, hampshire

I choose these schools because i've heard these are quite generous in terms of aid to foreign students. I'm most concerned with 2 problems: my low critical reading score and my high financial need.
so what do you think?
thanks :)

Hey. am attending dickinson in the fall. They are funny with thier admissions process. First of all, you don't have to submit SATs. But honestly, I think that it helps if you do. I wouldn't submit unless you had a least a 2,000. Dickinson LOVES international students, so you definitely have that going for. I think they also care a lot about your essays so make sure those are great. Overall, it is a very holistic approach and they are really looking for the right fit.

    Best of luck!

SATs or ACTs needed IF you want to be considered for merit scholarships.

but seems like my SAT really pulls me down
plus my huge need for FA
should I apply to Dickinson as ED?
I'm just afraid they won't give me substantial FA

If you apply and are accepted to Dickinson ED then you won't get into your dream schools...or any other schools for that matter.

ED is not a good choice if you are in need of substatial FA.

    hey, i also wanna ask
can I apply EA to other schools while applying ED to Dickinson?
OR can I apply ED to another school while applying EA to Dickinson?
    Does Dickinson policy allow that?
  • dg5052dg5052 Registered User Posts: 778 Member
If you apply ED to ANY school--not just Dickinson--you must withdraw your application from all other schools if you are admitted to your ED school.
  • hbrad8002hbrad8002 Registered User Posts: 383 Member
yea i know, but theoretically i can apply both EA and ED right?
'cos some people told me that one could not apply both ED and EA
they told me there were only 2 options: apply ED to 1 school OR apply EA to some schools?????

many schools will allow you to apply ED to one school and EA to other schools. Then if you get in to the ED school you have to withdraw from consideration at the EA schools. Because many of the deadlines for ED/EA overlap, the schools allow you to do both.

I don't know much about Dickinson, but when I went one of the biggest vibes I got (from hearing the President speak and the emphasis placed on the study abroad programs) was "Dickinson is Worldly" etc. So it seems like they LOVE internationals.
