Cornell Chances Gap Year

Hey all, I’ve decided to take a gap year rather than go to college next year to reapply to cornell. I applied RD this past round and deeply regret not going ED (I didn’t because back then I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go).

I’ve decided to ED this November for humec PAM and I have a few questions.

Since humec is a “state” (contract) school and I’m OOS will that hurt my chances or not at all, I really don’t know.

I am planning on doing a lot of poli-sci related internships over the year (working for state representative among others) and going to France to work at a poli-sci job there. Will adding these improve my chances a lot? My resume last round was fairly lacking in terms of direction etc.

Cornell is my dream school and I really want to maximize my chances of going. Any advice helps

when you re-apply next year, don’t tell them you took a gap year just to re-apply. Focus on what you accomplished and learned during that time. Cornell doesn’t want to hear it’s your dream school, they want to hear what you would do with their education, how would you make the most of the opportunities
