Major in History or History and Education?

Always more than one way to skin a cat. If you were at a school with an Education Dept obviously that would be easier/more efficient. Talk with your schools advisor see what they say. A possible drawback to having a Masters without any teaching experience might be getting hired for your first teaching job. When my daughter went through her program she was informed by our local principal not to go to a 5 yr Masters program since she would by contract be hired at a higher wage. All Districts are on budgets so why spend extra for a teacher who never taught. Check with the district you grew up in and see what your principal recommends. If getting your Masters in Education, Special Ed would be a good way to go.Our Education system is moving towards inclusion and that Masters would most likely have extra benefits along with your History degree.
Good luck
