Does participating in NUMATS increase admission chances for Northwestern?

My mom is convinced that me participating in the NUMATS (Northwestern University's Midwest Academic Talent Search) program when I was younger would have helped my admission chances at Northwestern if I had applied. I researched the program and didn't find anything suggesting that participating in the program improves admissions chances. Is my mom right? If not, what is the purpose/benefit of participating in the NUMATS program? Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, I couldn't really tell where this question belongs.

I can't imagine it will help you get in to the college. What is important is what you have accomplished in high school, not how well you tested when you were young. The reasons for taking part int he program are laid out on the website. https://www.ctd.northwestern.edu/program/numats

Your mom is almost certainly wrong. That is just something parents say. Not worth worrying about and not worth arguing about either. If your mom wants to believe that you would have gotten into Northwestern if only ____, let her believe. Meanwhile, move on to your reality. Good luck in college.

One of the reasons for the program is so that people like your mom will push their kids to apply to NW.
